A message from The Concrete Selective

So it’s been over a month since we started The Concrete Selective, and in that short space of time I feel like we’ve made a solid base for ourselves as an online publication (well, we’re on our way at least, that’s something!).

I started The Concrete Selective after a phone call with my Dad, not the most conventional way to start a website I know but he was the person who gave me the idea to do something for myself and take control of my career. We spoke for a few hours on the phone about how I was struggling to get my foot in the door in the media industry, and he said “Well why don’t you just do something that combines music and media? That’s what you want to do”. So I set about thinking about what I wanted to do, and before I had written/posted/drafted anything at all, I knew I needed some of my friends on board to do this with.

I turned to Sam and Amy, and told them about this idea that I had for an online zine, which could potentially become so much more in the future. I sold them the idea on the premise that it would be us three working together to create something cool that we all had a vested interest in. I genuinely couldn’t have done anything like this without either of them, their drive and creativity have been instrumental in what we’ve produced so far and will continue to be a force behind The Concrete Selective.

We’ve got some cool shit in the works, we’re working on some cool pieces and we’re bringing in some new people to work with us, so that we can make The Concrete Selective bigger and better than it currently is.

We’ve also brought two new faces onto our team in the shape of Ollie Wood and Sascha Knight, and I couldn’t be happier to be working alongside these wonderfully creative minds. Hopefully as a team we can start to work towards something super sick (Like an office with a bad ass tea making station or super slick photocopier, dream big innit).

I’m gonna close this off now, because it’s considerably less coherent than it should be. But that’s not a problem.

Safe, Jack

TL;DR - The Concrete Selective is sick, we’ve got sick things happening, we’ve got new people, everything is sick. Also Jesus Piece’s new record absolutely bangs.
