Under The Influence: New York Hardcore
"In the first episode of our series Under the Influence, we go from the streets of the Lower East Side all the way to South Korea to examine one of the most distinctive genres to sprout from the concrete of New York City: hardcore. Along the way, we’ll meet with everyone from tattoo shop owners to chefs to government workers—all of whom have been inspired by the teachings at musical meccas like CBGB’s and A7 and found ways to apply the lessons learned from the scene to their own lives. Join us—as well as members of Agnostic Front, Title Fight, Youth of Today, Incendiary, and more—as we explore a world living under the influence of New York Hardcore."
American Hardcore | The History of American Punk Rock
"This documentary film addresses the birth and evolution of hardcore punk rock from 1978 to 1986 (although the packaging says 1980-1986). The documentary boasts extensive underground footage shot during the height of the hardcore movement. It features exclusive interviews with early hardcore punk music artists from bands such as Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, and many more."
The History of New York Hardcore
If you want to know all about the hardcore scene in New York, this is the perfect documentary for you!
In Effect Hardcore's "Word on the Street"- This is Hardcore Fest 2017 edition
Although this isn't a documentary, this video is a compilation of interviews from last years This is Hardcore Festival in the States. The interviewer asks questions to both band members and attendees to give a real insight into the Hardcore genre at present and how the community has evolved over the many years.
The Very Black History Of Punk Music
"Stories about punk music tend to picture thin-framed white guys and girls with shaved heads, part of an angry, energetic scene born out of the working class angst of young white England in the 1970s. But the actual history of punk – as a type of music and movement – is more complicated than that. Black punks have been an integral and pioneering part of punk history – and they're keeping the movement alive and growing today. Host Sana Saeed explores that history and talks to proto-punk band Death, musician and journalist Greg Tate, the band The 1865 and festival organizer Shawna Shawnté."
So that's my list of my favourite documentaries about Hardcore, are there any i've missed off? Let us know, we'd love to see them!
