REVIEW: 'Punish' by Jesus Piece

After the release of 'Curse of the Serpent', heavy hardcore gang Jesus Piece have released 'Punish' which is the second single from their upcoming album “Only Self”. Our guess, after listening to the relesases from this album so far, is that this album is going to be dark, raw and incredibly heavy.

'Punish' was certainly a step up from the last single. It is busy, authentic, fast paced and very doomy. It begins with menacing sounding guitar which rings out for some time, followed by a rapid double bass drum and chugging bass creating a sheer amount of tension for the listener as we wonder what will strike next. The song very much holds a disjointed heavy metallic hardcore sound we have heard from Jesus Piece in the past; the low mid screamed vocals offer a “mosh metal” sound alongside the impeccable harsh vocals which echo throughout the song.

As listeners we encounter many rises and falls with heavy breakdowns and brazen riffs throughout the song; this song is really exciting and provides us with great insight into the more polished and technical sound that we hopefully will be hearing from the rest of the album once it is released.
