REVIEW: 'V.R.C.F' by King Nine

Updated: Aug 8, 2018

Long Island band, King Nine have not long released their new single for a new release; their first since “Art of War” in 2016. King Nine are all about brazen riffs, hardcore pride, violence and aggression fuelled chaos. V.R.C.F incites violence, goes in hard as fuck and shows the traits of King Nine we loved from “Scared to Death.” The song starts with a drum fill going into a fast paced gallop to kick off the start of the song to get the aggressive atmosphere flowing. It then moves into a stomp-like beat and riff to follow which I envisage will go down a treat at all future gigs they perform this at. The song then stops and fades into a opening riff on its own putting the listener on edge and then the deep, raspy, and almost spat vocals flow in nicely afterwards.  V.R.C.F is a rare kind of song that is rough around the edges (and everywhere else for that matter) without having to rely on a beatdown or mosh section; its simply aggression and riffs put together in a well structured flowing 2 minutes 51 seconds song. For me that what is most impressive about the track, its been played safe and used the ‘less is more’ element. If this is the content of King Nine on their new release, then I have high hopes for the rest of the album.
